Office Stress

Office stress seems to be something that is so common these days. With the economy the way it is, stress in the office has certainly gone up. Instead of just stressing over whether or not you will be able to get your work done on time, you now have the thoughts of whether or not you will have a job a few months from today floating in the back of your mind. When you work in a stressful environment, it can be hazardous to your health in some cases. It depends on how you operate. Some people thrive on stress since it gets them to take action but others get to a certain point and mentally break down.

Office stress can be caused by all sorts of things. If you are an employer, having stressed out employees can cause productivity to slow down. This means less production which leads to less profit. So what can you do about this? The first thing is to create a less stressful workplace. This doesn't mean to ease down on people's responsibilities, it just means to create a more stress-free environment. You can do a lot of different things such as playing some soft music or even buying a foosball table for the break room. Obviously, what will work will depend on the people as well as what type of business you are running.

Going back to the employee side, office stress can have a negative effect on your health both physically and mentally. Make sure you take the time to unwind during your breaks. Your diet will play a part in this as well. Proper nutrition will help keep you more alert while eating the wrong foods can make your mind and body tired which can cause stress.

So how bad can office stress really get? Have you even seen those videos on the web where employees just snap? Most people are working at jobs they don’t have a true passion for simply because they have no other choice. In order to stay sane, they will do things like tell themselves that the money they make will make up for it. For many people, having to work with difficult people can be annoying as well as stressful. If they have a boss who micromanages them, it can cause even more stress.

There are lots of different ways to relieve stress. You can get a massage, a hot bath when you get home, watch a comedy, and even exercise. It's important to not overwork yourself and remember to take time to do some office stress release activities. If you hold in too much of it, you may find yourself one day snapping just like those people in those office stress videos.
